This month’s Paper Pumpkin is an adorable set of 8 Christmas cards. I thought the set of cards would make a darling early Christmas gift for a friend, and I wanted a cute way to package them up. I recently made a “book box” for another set of full size cards by following along with a great tutorial by Karen Titus. Since the Paper Pumpkin cards are more of a notecard size, I had to dust off my math skills. Sooo, after about 879 attempts (I really should dust off my math skills more often), I came up with a box to fit them!
Here is the view from the top…
A view from the side…
And inside the box…
Here is how to make a book box to fit the Paper Pumpkin cards.
Cut one piece of Pool Party cardstock to 8 3/8 x 9 3/4 inches. This will be the inside box piece.
Score the long side at 1 1/8, 2 1/4, 7 1/2 and 8 5/8
Score the short side at 1 1/8, 2 1/4, 6 and 7 1/4
Cut another piece of Pool Party cardstock 6 x 9 5/8. This will wrap around the inside box piece and form the cover, side and back to form the book.
Score the long side at 4 1/4 and 5 3/8
Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5 1/2 x 4 3/4. This will be the top layer on the cover.
Cut a piece of Pear Pizazz about 3 x 3/4. This will be the fastener.
Score 1 1/4 and 2 3/8.
Cut a little strip of Pool Party 1 1/2 x 1/4. This will be the little loop that holds the fastener.
Glue the shorter edge of the fastener in the center of the back cover, lining up score mark with edge of back cover.
Use Tear Tape to glue the box into the cover. I didn’t press it up tight to the spine, I just centered it in the back cover.
Plan where the loop and fastener will be BEFORE you stamp and embellish the top piece – ask me why I know this, haha
Then glue the top piece and loop onto the cover.
CUTE, right???
